On Saturday, June 23, 2018, donors and guests from all over the country gathered at the Memorial Plaque Site on the Marginal Way to dedicate the newest plaque, Plaque Three which was filled at the end of 2017 with its 25th donor. Executive Director, Jeanne Roche, and Executive Board Chair, Paul Breen, both spoke, expressing their gratitude for all the donors who have supported the efforts to provide funding against future damage, such as was caused by the nor’easter in early March of this year. Charles Waite, Ogunquit Select Board Chair also spoke briefly expressing his gratitude for the efforts all who have been so supportive of preserving and maintaining the Marginal Way over the years as a testimony of the committment that “The Marginal Way will remain a shining jewel in the crown of our town for many, many years to come.” A reception was held after the dedication at the home of Barbara and Richard O’Leary where the donors received the brass strips that were used to create a temporary plaque while all 25 of the lines were filled. They will be keeping these strips as a memento.
